Chicago-based Quantum Technical Services – an internationally renowned leader in the field of portion and apply technology for a variety of food processing applications – has launched a targeted applicator for prepared meals and frozen entrées, enabling manufacturers to apply their product consistently and accurately every time. 

Quantum's MLT2000 Multi-Lane Target Waterfall Topping Applicator deposits a variety of toppings – such as cheese, IQF vegetables and meats – onto the product at speeds of up to 60 feet per minute, per lane.

The innovation can portion and apply ingredients to an array of items – from prepared tray meals, to bowls, flatbreads, and similar products.

“If you were producing trays of lasagne, for example, and wished to apply the cheese automatically, then we’ve developed a targeted topping applicator to do just that, specifically hitting only those trays with the ingredient via this new equipment innovation,” advised Dave White, CEO of Quantum Technical Services.

“The clear advantages to the customer in using this machinery are reduced waste, improved accuracy and reduced cost of production – particularly in relation to eliminating the cost associated with wasted product,” confirmed Mr White.

Like all of Quantum’s machinery, the MLT2000 has been designed not only with reliability and performance in mind, but also ease of operation (featuring, for example, a large touchscreen and ability to input 20 user-defined recipes) and also ease of sanitation. “One clear advantage is that no tools are required to disassemble or reassemble the machinery when it comes to cleaning, which is of course a big deal in the food industry,” added the firm’s CEO.

From 26–29 April, Quantum Technical Services will be showcasing the innovative MLT2000 solution alongside its other cutting-edge technologies at Anuga FoodTec in Cologne, Germany (Hall 10.1. Stand E060). The company will also exhibit its advanced food processing innovations later in the year – at the European Pizza & Pasta Show in London, UK (22–23 June), IBIE in Las Vegas, USA (18–21 September), and Pack Expo in Chicago, USA (23–26 October).
