Global leaders, start-up pioneers and disruptors to unpack top F&B trends at Gulfood 2022

Global industry leaders, innovators and major disruptors will examine the latest trends and create meaningful dialogue to chart a better food future at Gulfood 2022 – the 27th edition of the world’s largest annual F&B sourcing event, which opens on Sunday (13th Feb).

Running at Dubai World Trade Centre from 13–17 February, the year’s first global gathering for the F&B industry has attracted the biggest brands and forward-thinking start-ups, who are set to showcase breakthrough technologies and groundbreaking solutions designed to address challenges and meet evolving consumer habits.

The mega event will also see a host of high-calibre F&B decision-makers share valuable insights on evolving trends in the all-new ‘Gulfood Inspire’ conference across an informative and educational five days.

From Q-commerce to cloud kitchens

Arun Krishnan, COO-UAE, Fresh to Home – one of the world’s largest vertically integrated e-commerce F&B companies – believes Q-commerce (quick commerce fast delivery from local shops), AI-enabled personalised commerce, ready-to-cook assortments, ghost kitchens, cloud kitchens, and automation using IoT are the most dynamic trends to watch in 2022.

“Gulfood is the largest F&B event of its kind – and it’s the perfect place for foodies, innovators, and investors to come together and experience what has changed and what will change in the future,” said Mr Krishnan, whose company delivers to two million customers in 10 large cities across India and the UAE.

Mr Krishnan will be part of the influential Grocery E-Commerce & Delivery Platform - Presentations and Panels Presented in Collaboration with Dubai Chamber.

A marketplace ripe for further disruption

Peter Schatzberg, founder and CEO, Sweetheart Kitchen (bySWHK), who has pioneered the virtual kitchen model in three continents, believes the marketplace is ripe for further disruption, innovation, more startup capital, consolidation, and aggregation.

“It’s an amazing way to interact on an international level in the food and beverage industry. I will be talking about the challenges as an entrepreneur and starting a company outside of your own home country,” informed Mr Schatzberg, who will present a session titled ‘Starting a Food Business in an Emerging Market,’ and will take part in a panel discussion on ‘Cloud Kitchens – Utilising 4.0 Technologies for Seamless Delivery Services in F&B.

“At Gulfood 2022, I hope to learn a lot about what is going on in the global supply chain,” he continued, adding: “A lot of disruption and tech innovation is taking place, especially this year.” 

Spanning 21 Halls, the show will take place from 13 – 17 February 2022 at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). Gulfood 2022 features more than 4,000 companies and more than 100 award-winning chefs – including Michelin Star and ‘World’s Best’ winners – alongside business leaders and government policymakers, all under one roof.
