Organisers of Alimentec – the leading food & beverage industry event, held in Bogota, Colombia – have announced the premier trade show will be rescheduled from 8–11 June 2021. 

The postponement comes as a result of ongoing Covid-19 disruptions, and Koelnmesse has said it is confident that putting the event back to June next year will offer exhibitors and attendees alike the opportunity to experience the fullest and most profitable trade show experience. 

In a statement, Koelnmesse SAS said its main goal was to provide customers with a platform from which they could meet potential business partners, alongside presenting and promoting their products in an international market. However, it noted that this year has been one of the most challenging for all industries. “Around the world, companies and trade show organisers have been trying in every way to protect the health of exhibitors and visitors,” the statement read.

 

“Intensive discussions with our key stakeholders and clients, exhibitors and visitors alike have shown they see great value in Alimentec to generate new business opportunities, to come together and to participate in an international event. However due to new protocols and the current development in the region, strong feedback from the market is that the original show date in March will be too early to make full use of this potential. 

“Because of international travel to Colombia still being restricted, foreign quarantine polices, and health concerns from international visitors, Koelnmesse SAS and Corferias, Alimentec organisers have decided to reschedule Alimentec 2021,” it continued.

 

“Rescheduling to a further date will make it more likely that a higher number of buyers from many parts of the world will be able to travel to Colombia. The new date for Alimentec will be June 8-11, 2021.” 

“We hope this will allow everybody to have a better plan of participation – and great success is predicted for Alimentec in 2021,” the statement concluded.

Co-organised by Koelnmesse and Corferias, Alimentec – the leading trade fair for the food, beverage and hospitality industry in the Andean, Central American and Caribbean region – returns in 2021 for its 11th edition, and will be held in Bogotá at the Corferias exhibition centre.
