The King’s Ginger’s winter cocktail terrace at The Mitre Hotel Hampton Court is a festive treat
The King’s Ginger’s winter terrace at the historic Mitre Hotel Hampton Court, which runs until the end of the Christmas season, marks the second collaboration between the historic liqueur and the hotel.
The original winter warmer, The King’s Ginger is a feature of home and professional bars the world over, and a key ingredient in many classic and contemporary cocktails. Up to the end of the Christmas season, the terrace at the Mitre Hotel Hampton Court – set on the banks of the River Thames, opposite Hampton Court Palace – will serve an array of beautiful mixed drinks. These include the King’s Ginger Hot Chocolate, Mulled Cider, and the King’s Ginger Penicillin made with the Flavour Blaster bartending tool, which creates decorative bubbles and aroma clouds – perfect for a theatrical serve.
Alongside the terrace, the partnership will see an array of events take place at the hotel, including the Mitre Hotel High Tea and Hampton Court Ice Rink Experience, running throughout winter, which features a special King’s Ginger serve and King’s Ginger Mince Pies. Guests will also be offered a complementary dram of King’s Ginger upon arrival, with a bottle placed in every room.
A rich sense of shared regal history
Both the venue and liqueur share a rich sense of history, especially amongst royalty. The Mitre Hotel has roots in the 17th century, with King Charles II having stayed in the original venue as far back as 1665, while The King’s Ginger can trace its history back to 1903, when it was formulated for His Majesty King Edward VII by Berry Bros. & Rudd. Today, its distinctive bottle harks back to its origins, with a reference to King Edward’s original saddle flask.
“We are thrilled to have partnered with The King’s Ginger and Berry Bros. & Rudd for a 2nd year,” said Hector Ross, founder of The Signet Collection. “We were delighted with the reception to last year’s launch, and can’t wait to create an awesome Terrace which will host a programme of events to serve all our guests exceptional winter warmer.”
A sipping liqueur and a classic cocktail staple
With an updated bottle design and a tweaked recipe for the modern era, the King’s Ginger is enjoyed all over the world, both as a sipping liqueur and a staple of many classic cocktails.
Alongside being a mainstay of home and professional bars alike, the brand is also an award-winning liqueur, having recently claimed a gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
