100 years of F&B innovation: Anuga celebrates its centenary in 2019

100 years of F&B innovation- Anuga celeb

Around 7,500 exhibitors from more than 100 countries will travel to Cologne for this year's Anuga – the world's largest food and beverage trade fair for professionals. As organisers prepare for the 100th anniversary of the most significant trading, sourcing and trend platform in the international food industry’s calendar, we take a look at what attendees can look forward to.

The first Anuga took place in Stuttgart in 1919 with the participation of around 200 German firms. Now, a century on since its first edition, Anuga will combine the past with trends, inspirations, new impulses and professionally oriented future themes.

One highlight for 2019 will be the new ‘Boulevard of Inspiration’, which offers trade visitors concentrated innovative power divided up into regions and themes and bundled into three interesting special events – the Anuga Trend Zone, the Anuga Taste Innovation show and new event area Anuga Horizon 2050. The Boulevard of Inspiration should therefore be the first port of call for visitors interested in exploring innovative new products, the latest market and consumer trends for the coming year, and future development scenarios and future themes of the food and beverage industry.

Anuga’s successful ‘10 trade shows under one roof’ concept returns in 2019 to ensure a good overview and a well-arranged layout divided into themed areas, as outlined below.

Anuga Fine Food

The largest of the Anuga trade shows unites a comprehensive and diversified offer from all over the globe, spanning delicatessen, gourmet and basic food. Numerous nations take part here at joint pavilions, which present the typical food and regional specialities of their home country. Cross-cutting trends such as halal, superfoods or functional foods are also at home here. In this way, for instance, the Anuga Halal Market special event conveys an international product presence and presents Halal-related trends and new products as part of this show. This year, major exhibitors include Del Monte, Di Gennaro, Develey, Feinkost Dittmann, Fromi, Herbert Kluth, Monini, Monolith, Mutti, Newlat, Olitalia, Saclá, Seeberger and Seitenbacher. The first-time exhibitors include the Dongwon Group and Genuport.

The frozen food segment is one of the most important trendsetters within the trade and in the out-of-home market. In hardly any other segment are the manufacturers as successful at presenting new products and continually improved solutions that are more convenient for consumers. Showcasing innovations for both channels – the food trade and the out-of-home market – Anuga Frozen Food will present a number of key players in the segment, including 11er Nahrungsmittel, Agrarfrost, Ardo, Aviko, Condeli, Crop’s, Erlenbacher, Greenyard Frozen, Gunnar Dafgard, McCain, Neuhauser, Pfalzgraf, Roncadin, Salomon Foodworld, Surgita, Sweet Street, Viciunai and Wolf Butterback.
