Alimentec – the leading trade fair for the food and beverage as well as hospitality industries in the Andean region, Central America and the Caribbean – has been rescheduled to March 2021.

Following local and international legal binding obligations related to Covid-19 pandemic (coronavirus), recommendations of the World Health Organization, the increasing restrictions being placed on travel and tourism, and the statements of the Colombian government to ban all events in order to stop the spread of the virus, Alimentec will no longer take place as planned in June this year. Instead, the premier event has been rescheduled to go ahead from 23–26 March 2021 in Bogota, Colombia.

In a joint statement, Koelnmesse and Corferias – organisers of the premier food, beverage and HORECA show – said: “Due to the overriding risk resulting from the uncontrolled spread of infection, several government restrictions, as well as the responsibility of organisers with the health of exhibitors, visitors, and stakeholders, the trade show has been postponed.

“After a careful deliberation, Koelnmesse and Corferias, have considered that moving the trade show to 2021 would allow enough time to implement all safety measures to reduce health risks necessary to guarantee a successful show,” the statement continued.

Offering the complete package

When the show returns in March, the Alimentec exhibition will offer a complete experience for companies and professionals in the food and beverage as well as hospitality industries. During the four days of the event, exhibitors will be able to make new business contacts, gauge interest for innovative products and services, develop alternative distribution and sales channels, and consolidate their corporate image.

The event will display top brands in different industry sectors – including sweets snacks and confectionary, fine foods, bakery, chilled and frozen foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, beverages and everything related to the hospitality sector.

With more than 500 exhibitors and 28,000 visitors participating in its last edition, Alimentec is predetermined to be as successful in its 2021 version.
