Döhler Group acquires majority of Nutrafood Srl

German-headquartered Döhler Group has acquired a majority stake in Italian firm Nutrafood as it strives to boost its plant-based food and beverage offer.

The transaction further complements Döhler’s range in the area of plant-based food and beverages, where the company currently provides its customers with solutions from smoothies to spoonables to beverages enabling the development of natural nutrition concepts and what the firm terms ‘Multi-Sensory Experiences’.

The portfolio of pulses, cereal bases and low-calorie bases, such as veggie NFCs and coconut water, is now supplemented by nut products.

In a statement, Döhler said that “Nutrafood’s extensive expertise and ability to provide plant-based ingredients for food and beverages, combined with the broad product portfolio and the comprehensive industry knowledge of the Döhler Group, will create unique synergy effects.”

It continued that “customers will be able to benefit from a more complete

product range and improved efficiency of the two businesses in a global market with regard to customised, all-in-one solutions,” adding that the two firms are “convinced” the new tie-up represented “a milestone on the path towards a leading position in the plant-based nutrition segment, while simultaneously strengthening their respective positions.”
