UK tea blender Dorset Tea has announced the launch of its new fully sustainable packaging – from removing the gold lettering on the outer packaging so that it is 100-per-cent recyclable, through to sift-proof outer packaging that does not require inner foil bags.

As part of the firm’s new sustainable step, Dorset Tea has also introduced biodegradable teabags using plant-based, heat sealable paper that can be industrially composted.

 

“At Dorset Tea, we love the planet as much as we love a good cup of tea, so we’ve been working hard to make sure our products respect the environment,” advised Phoebe Double, Brand Manager at Dorset Tea. “It’s been challenging, but we are very happy to announce that as of 13th October 2020 all of our products will be packaged in environmentally friendly packaging,” she announced.

 

“Our special recyclable boxes are not wrapped in plastic and keep the teabags fresh without a foil bag, and our biodegradable teabags can be popped into your council food waste bin after usage,” Ms Double continued, adding that to celebrate the changes, Dorset Tea is partnering with Marine Conservation Society to highlight the importance of keeping the world’s marine environment free from litter.

 

Part of the collaboration between Dorset Tea and the Marine Conservation Society includes joining with local schools to create projects that focus on the local coastal environment and highlighting the importance of protecting marine life from litter.
