Top Seeds International appoints new VP Sales & Marketing
Ofir Elasar has been announced as the new VP Sales & Marketing of Top Seeds International – a world-leading company in the research and marketing of innovative hybrid varieties of vegetables.
49-year-old Business Management graduate Ofir Elasar has previously worked in the young plants sector at Hishtil, covering operating and sales & marketing roles both in Israel and at an international level. In the seeds sector, meanwhile, he has acquired in-depth experience with companies like Zeraim Gedera-Syngenta and most recently OriGene Seeds.
“I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Ofir Elasar. A manager with lots of experience, he has shown a great ability to combine a close adherence to processes with the assured and reliable management of staff, motivating his teams to meet their goals”, commented Gianni Bernardotto, CEO of Israel-headquartered Top Seeds International. “We are certain he will make a major contribution to the further development of Top Seeds International’s business in its reference markets”.
Meeting the needs of growers
“I am proud and truly honoured to take on this role”, remarks Mr Elasar. “Our aim will be to continue to develop varieties that meet the needs of growers and the entire commercial chain, right through to the end consumer. Lots of big challenges lie in store but being part of a major company like Top Seeds International gives you a real energy boost”.
The company’s stated aim is to guarantee high yields and excellent-tasting fruit by selecting varieties with genetic resistance to a wide range of diseases. Through continuous field research, the company’s geneticists, agronomists and technicians select the best varieties of many different vegetable species in terms of resilience and profitability, including tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, aubergines, melons and watermelons.
The firm operates worldwide through companies based in Spain, Italy and Mexico, and after an initial onboarding period at the company HQ in Israel, Ofir Elasar will be doing lots of travelling – in accordance with the Covid-19 related travel restrictions – to meet affiliate companies and learn about the most strategic markets.
Mr Elasar will officially take up his new role on 1st July 2020. The current marketing responsibilities of Fulvio Berton will be transferred to Ofir Elasar following an initial handover process.
